Flux Academy’s Webflow Masterclass review: What you need to know
Flux Academy’s Webflow Masterclass is your go-to for becoming a Webflow pro and launching your own web design business.
That said, I found that the course is far from perfect, and it’s not right for everyone.
Before making any rash decisions, there are some things you should know.
Let’s start by investigating who actually created the course.

Ran Segall and Kaleb Jae review: Who even are these guys?
Ran Segall is no newbie in the freelance web design game – he’s got 17 years under his belt, with 6 of those running his own business.
He kick started his career with major brand ad agencies before taking the freelance plunge, creating beautiful websites and UX design for clients in tech startups, social enterprises, and even the culinary world. He’s managed to scale his business to over $250k a year.
Since 2015, Ran teaches other aspiring web developers with his YouTube channel and Flux Academy, which now is approaching 1 million subscribers.
Kaleb Jae is the brains behind Flow Gurus and is a certified Webflow Partner. Kaleb’s got more than 200 websites in his portfolio, raking in over $500,000 in just three short years of Flow Gurus existence.
He even got a nod from Relume (a product company that provides tools and resources used by thousands of Figma designers & Webflow developers) and played a big role in creating the Relume Icon Library.
Safe to say, these guys have more than enough experience in Webflow and web design, so they can definitely teach you a thing or two.
What’s included in Flux Academy’s Webflow Masterclass course?
Webflow is a web design and development tool that uses custom CSS to create beautiful and interactive websites.
Unlike Squarespace or WordPress, Webflow has an extremely steep learning curve because you have to understand the basics of HTML and CSS.
When you do understand how to use the program, it is a powerful tool to build beautiful and intricate websites for all sorts of things. Which is why so many people opt to buckle down and learn Webflow.
So in order to teach you everything you need to know, the course material is broken down into 4 parts:
- Main course modules
- Mentoring and support
- Bonuses (Pro)
- Community
#1.) Main course
Unlike other courses you might find online that have modules broken down into lessons, this course is broken down into three stages.
Specifically, three different website builds.
Stage one walks you through how to build a portfolio website using a template on Webflow.
Stage two teaches you how to build an interactive yoga website using Relume.
Stage three teaches you how to build a super interactive (think like Netflix) sports website from scratch.
The course is designed this way strategically.
It teaches you all of the fundamentals of Webflow in the first lesson, then continues to build on that knowledge through the different website builds.
Each lesson has videos and an asset folder with all the design materials you use while building the site.
Here is a screenshot of what the lessons look like.
#2.) Mentoring and support
Like I mentioned earlier, Webflow is HARD. Especially if you don’t come from a tech background and don’t know the first thing about HTML and CSS.
But the creators of this course are fully aware of this, which is why they offer 2 months of mentoring and support, or 6 months if you decide to go for the pro version, which I’ll cover shortly.
If you find yourself stuck with a client project or course assignment, mentors are there to provide one-on-one support.
They offer weekly office hours and exclusive workshops to stay ahead of the competition. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions you might have in the course or out.
Having a community is great, but having mentors to walk you through the program and understand what you’re doing is extremely helpful.
#3.) Extra training material
If you decide to get the pro version of this course, you’ll get access to some cool extra training material.
The pro version teaches you all about the business side of web developing.
Everything you need to know like pricing, how to charge (hourly vs project), what you can charge for, how to find clients, how to set up the best workflow, and literally everything else you need to know to start a successful business.
Here are some of the things you can expect to learn in this “bonus” content.
They even go through how to become a Webflow expert.
If you’re not familiar with what a Webflow expert is, it’s an exam that you take on Webflow’s official site that proves you know your stuff.
You get this badge that you can put on your website, it gives you a ton of credibility, and most importantly, you get access to their job directory. Anyone who is looking for a Webflow website is probably on there.
It’s a great way to find clients and increase your earning potential, and if you’re trying to become a Webflow designer, this is something you should do.
This is what the Webflow directory looks like.
Full disclosure — you don’t need to take Flux Academy’s Webflow Masterclass to become a Webflow Expert. You just need to pass the exam and have 3 Webflow sites on your portfolio on Webflow’s official university page.
It’s free and you get up to three tries.
#4.) Community
The Flux Academy community has members from all of their masterclasses, not just the Webflow masterclass.
That means you’ll find resources for all different types of tools and programs that are web design adjacent. So you have a wealth of information available to you at all times.
Here’s a screenshot of the different types of mentoring sessions you can book.
The community has a place for you to ask your questions, celebrate your wins, and find an accountability partner.
It also has a thread for gigs and potential work opportunities, as well as recordings of all past office hours.
This is a great resource to network, ask questions, and get to know other people in this industry.
Flux Academy’s Webflow Masterclass cons ❌
❌ It’s hard. I’ve said it a bunch of times during this review, and I’ll say it again, Webflow is hard. And many people quit because — let’s face it — understanding code is difficult. So if you’re not 100% sure this is what you want to do, start with a smaller commitment to get your toes wet. That said, this course does make it easy to digest the material with videos and resources, and the hands-on experience has shown to be super helpful for students.
❌ It’s expensive. Webflow has its own free course available (Webflow University), which makes this course the pricier option. But unlike Webflow University, this course teaches you how to build 3 incredible websites from scratch and how to successfully run a business as a web designer.
❌ It assumes you already know the basics. It’s not beginner-friendly at all. You kind of have to go in already knowing a little bit about web design, but if you stick with it, you’ll be able to pick it up pretty quickly.
❌ There aren’t any bonus lessons. You only get access to the bonus business lessons if you get the pro version.
❌ Requires additional investment. Webflow is one of the more expensive web design platforms on the market. And web design also requires that you use other programs like Canva and Relume. Be prepared to invest more than just the course fees. But if you get really good, you can also start charging a lot more for your expertise. The average salary of a Webflow developer is $81,000, according to ZipRecruiter.
Flux Academy’s Webflow Masterclass pros ✅
✅ Hard concepts made easy (well, as easy as possible). Webflow isn’t the easiest program in the world to master but this program breaks everything down for you.
✅ Hands-on practice. You build three unique websites using different methods that reinforce everything you need to learn.
✅ Experienced instructors. The course is led by well-known industry professionals with extensive experience in web design and Webflow, not some rando on the internet.
✅ Generous refund policy. If you aren’t enjoying the course, you can cancel within 30 days and get a full refund.
✅ Mentorship and support. You get 2 months of mentorship with the normal program and 6 months with pro. Due to the steep learning curve, this support could mean the difference between successfully launching a new career, and giving up.
✅ Business focus. Some training programs only teach web design skills, but with Pro, you learn how to actually turn your skills into profits.
✅ Lifetime access. You can always go back to it whenever you need.
✅ Flexibility. Since it’s a self study course, you have the flexibility to make it work with your own schedule.
✅ Constantly updating. Webflow is always adding new features, and this course stays up to date with the latest from Webflow.
TL;DR: Is Flux Academy’s Webflow Masterclass worth it?
Flux Academy’s Webflow Masterclass is worth it because of the valuable mentorship, networking opportunities, workshop events, and business courses.
You can learn a lot for free through Webflow University, and it’s certainly possible to figure things out alone through trial and error. But unless you’re extremely disciplined, your odds of success are much higher if you have expert support in your corner.
I highly recommend it if you’re serious about learning Webflow.
