  What We Think

One of the best VA courses in the market with options to scale, but live meetings may be tough depending on your time zone.

If you’re looking for an honest review of The VA Foundry Launch in 30 Days course (from someone who has actually been through it), you’ve come to the right place.

So here’s the deal…

The VA Foundry Launch in 30 Days course claims it’ll help get your virtual assistance business up and running within just 30 days.

But if you’re like me, you may be wondering if this is even possible.

That’s why our research team spent hours dissecting Sam and Jo’s Launch in 30 Days course to determine if it’s legit.

Nobody likes throwing away money on a sucky course (been there, done that). So in this VA Foundry review, we’ll give it to you straight so you can decide for yourself if it’s right for you.

Let’s dive in.

If you’re not quite ready to dive in head-first, Sam and Jo also offer a VA startup mini-course to test the waters.

And if you’ve already launched your VA business and have clients, check out my VA Foundry Scale It Mastermind review, which is their program for more advanced VAs.

VA Foundry review: What you need to know

VA Foundry Launch in 30 Days is a step-by-step coaching program designed to help aspiring virtual assistants launch their business in 30 days. The program taps into over 20 years of experience that coaches Jo and Sam have building their own VA businesses.

That said, no course is perfect, and this one’s certainly not right for everyone.

Before making any rash decisions, there are some things you should know.

Let’s start by investigating who actually created the course.

If, after reading the review, you decide the course is right for you, scroll to the bottom of this page to get a special sign-up bonus (and a money-saving tip).

Jo Jensen and Sam Browne review: Who even are these ladies?

photo of Sam and Jo, founders of VA Foundry course

Jo Jensen and Sam Browne are the founders of the VA Foundry.

Sam Browne is the founder of The VA Network of New Zealand, the go-to resource for New Zealand business owners to easily find their match made in VA heaven. With a whopping community of 3,000+ members, she is a well-connected lady worth getting to know.

Jo Jensen is the owner of a million-dollar VA agency, Strictly Savvy, and runs a team of 30 talented individuals that helped her scale her VA business from $850K in revenue to 1.5 million in just two years. In other words, she’s not just some rando on the internet — she knows her shiz.

Together they’ve helped over 3,000 VAs launch and grow their business. They’ve also onboarded an insane 570+ clients in their own practices over the last 11 years.

If that weren’t enough, they also have a podcast where they talk about all things virtual assisting. Check out this episode about online networking to get a feel for their style.

What’s included in The VA Foundry’s Launch in 30 Days course?

Before we get into what I liked and didn’t like about the course, let’s make sure you understand exactly what you get when you join.

The program has 4 main components:

  1. Main Launch in 30 Days course
  2. Build Your Website Bonus Sessions
  3. VIP Community
  4. Other Bonuses

1. Launch in 30 Days course (main lessons)

This is a fast-paced program designed to keep you accountable and on track to launching your business in 30 days.

There are 7 modules with 60 lessons that take you through everything you need to know about starting and launching your VA business.

screenshot of va foundry course lessons

Here’s a quick look at what’s covered in the modules.

  1. Assemble Your Essentials. Everything you need to know about starting a virtual assistant business. Legal documents, making a portfolio, getting clients, the whole works.
  2. Build Your Brand. How to build a brand that sucks in the type of clients want to work with.
  3. Establish Your Credibility. Boost your online street cred so you can land higher-paying clients.
  4. Launch Your Business. Learn what a business launch actually looks like to start attracting your first clients.
  5. Prepare For Your First Client. A step-by-step onboarding process that’ll make clients think you’re a seasoned professional (even if you aren’t).
  6. Land Your First Client. Proven strategies to get eyeballs on your business and clients rolling in.
  7. Nail Your Client Experience. How to wow the pants off your client so they’ll recommend you to others.

Each module has videos, downloadable slides, and extra resources to reference as you work on building out your business.

These include things like a pricing calculator to help you avoid charging too little (and leaving money on the table) or charging too much (and missing out on clients).

They also provide a list of financial experts in New Zealand and Australia that can help you sort out any bookkeeping issues you may run into.

Best of all, there are templates galore. These save loads of time on things like emails, contracts, and building a website. Why build stuff from scratch when you can take shortcuts?

I also liked how the lessons aren’t just hypothetical fluff.

Each video gives personal examples and tangible ideas that you can apply directly to your VA business.

If you prefer watching your videos on the go, they also offer an app on IOS and Android — super handy if you’re like me and spend hours in public transport each week.

Lastly, the program includes specialized training on cutting-edge tools to market yourself as a VA (more on that later).

2. Build Your Website Bonus Session

Building a website can be a HUGE timesuck if you’ve never done it before.

VA Foundry solves this by including a web template that helps you get your site up in one day flat.

screenshot of va foundry bonus material about building websites

The template comes with a live workshop with Rocketspark that shows you exactly how to set things up, step by step.

Just be aware that you still have to pay for normal website-related expenses like hosting, etc. This is all part of running an online business, but it doesn’t have to be expensive.

3. VIP Community

The Launch in 30 Days community is poppin’ with cool stuff like:

  • Daily challenges (you can even win prizes).
  • Replays of the Ask Us Anything calls.
  • Website reviews (get pointers on how to make your site better).
  • An active community where you can go to get feedback, encouragement, and advice.

Unlike a lot of courses that add a dead community, this one has tons of features to keep you engaged and excited about the stuff you’re learning.

And since each cohort is small, you’ll be able to get to know your fellow VAs. You never know who might end up referring you clients someday!

4. Extra Bonuses

One thing that’s unique about VA Foundry is the amount of personalized help you get during your training.

Not only do you have access to the modules, downloadable resources, community, and bonus sessions, but you also get FIVE weekly live sessions with Jo and Sam.

In these sessions, they answer any burning questions you may have about launching your biz.

This is crazily valuable.

In case you forgot — Jo and Sam have built 7-figure VA businesses and landed 570+ clients. Having these two powerhouses in your corner to help you get unstuck is honestly worth the price of the course alone. (As long as you actually take advantage of these calls by bringing your burning questions.)

Once you complete the course, you earn a certificate and badge — proof you know your stuff in the VA world.

Add this to your website to give potential clients extra proof that you can walk the walk.

Another cool bonus is the chance to win a free website build from Jo and Sam. Since they only allow 30 people to join per cohort, your odds of winning aren’t too shabby.

Lastly, and potentially most importantly, is the new AI Survival Kit for Virtual Assistants they recently added.

This will help you stay ahead of the tech curve so you can take advantage and earn even more by implementing the latest AI tools into your workflow.

Launch in 30 Days cons ❌

No program is perfect, and the VA Foundry 30 Day Launch is no exception.

Here are some cons I found when going through the program.

Limited-time access. You only get 90 days access to the training library and community. If you have a busy schedule and think you’ll need more time, this might not work for you. Jo and Sam do this to keep you accountable — it forces you to take action NOW so you can start making money online in as little as 30 days.

Only for New Zealand or Australia VAs. A huge chunk of this program is the logistical stuff you need to start a business — tax laws, contracts, financial practices, etc. If you live in another country, this info won’t apply to you. (But if you’re an Aussie or Kiwi, this is tailor-made for you.)

There is a strict refund policy. They offer a “30-day pro-rata refund option”. That means you can request a refund in the first 30 days for the amount of remaining unused days. I imagine this unique policy is to protect the time they invest in all the live calls each week, which is fair.

You really need to be committed. The average length of each video is 20 to 30 minutes. Add in the action items and live calls, and you’ve got a hefty time commitment. Prepare to invest at least an hour a day in this program, probably more. While this isn’t technically a con to the course itself, it’s something you should know before committing.

Launch in 30 Days pros ✅

Now for where the course shines…

Fewer students mean more attention for YOU. Unlike other VA courses that have hundreds of students taking the course simultaneously, VA Foundry limits each live cohort to a max of 30 students. That means way more personalized support for you and a more tight-knit group of students that support each other. This separates it from many other VA courses.

Covers literally everything you need to know to launch your VA career. I showed my VA this course, and she couldn’t believe the level of detail that went into this. Each lesson provides real-life examples and actionable steps that make steps easy to understand and implement.

Insane personalized support. You get access to not one, but TWO VA superstars multiple times per week. This level of live, personalized support is extremely rare, and our research team hasn’t seen it in any other course we’ve reviewed. Starting a VA business is intimidating, and with VA Foundry, you don’t have to do it alone.

Covers emerging tech tools like ChatGPT that help you finish work at hyperspeed. The online world is forever changing, especially with the addition of new AI programs. Sam and Jo stay up to date with these new tools, programs, and tech so that you won’t get left behind.

Focuses on brand messaging and awareness. VA Foundry has an entire module dedicated to building and personalizing your brand. This is important because you don’t want attract just any old client — you want to attract clients you actually enjoy working with.

Time-saving templates to build your website. Most VAs waste weeks tweaking their website until it’s perfect — but not you. You’ll have their awesome template to build your website in one day, allowing you to start making money sooner.

Assignments to help launch in 30 days. It isn’t just theoretical. As you work through the program, you’re actually building your business. By the end, you have all the pieces in place to land clients (if you haven’t landed one already).

TL;DR: Is Launch in 30 Days worth it?

After going through this course, I believe it’s the best option for Aussie and New Zealand VAs who want to start earning ASAP.

If you’re not from Australia or New Zealand, you’ll still learn a ton, but there are probably other VA courses more suited for your situation.

I found the lessons and modules incredibly thorough, and the course just went through a huge overhaul to include tools like ChatGPT, Airtable, and new features in Canva.

All the stuff you need to know to stay ahead of the curve in the industry.

I had my own VA, Farhanah, take this course, and here’s what she told me:

“I personally used their tips on ChatGPT and Airtable in my VA business and it’s really helped me optimize my workflow.

I’ve tried for years to teach myself how to run and scale a successful VA business by puzzle-piecing together random info from around the web (and lots of trial and error), but I found it was honestly more work than it’s worth.”

Investing in a course like Launch in 30 Days is basically like a shortcut.

You have everything laid out for you step-by-step.

You don’t have to worry about making mistakes or using outdated information.

You’ll constantly get NEW information.

And you have a team of experts in your corner to keep you accountable and prevent you from getting stuck.

If you like doing things the easy way, this is it.

This is for you if

  • You’re ready to hit the ground running and have the time to focus on the lessons.
  • You have skills to offer clients but need help creating a legit business model and strategy.
  • You’re looking for live and personalized help to get you started on your business.
  • You’re a beginner in the world of running an online business.

This is not for you if

  • You can’t spend 1 to 2 hours a day on the course.
  • You aren’t comfortable with basic computer skills (email, research, calendars, etc).
  • You can’t motivate yourself to do the work. This is a sped-up course, so you really need to grind through. They give you the steps, but you gotta take the action.

Is there a Launch in 30 Days discount code?

There is currently no special discount code for The Launch in 30 Days, but Project Untethered readers can get 10% off using this link and the code MITCH100

If you don’t want to wait until the next cohort, you can also join the less expensive DIY option.

This self-study course includes all the same modules, training, and bonuses as the VIP course — just without the live calls or community.

The DIY option is for self-motivated learners who want to save money and don’t mind learning lone-wolf style.

The discount above works for both options, so take your pick ;).

And if you’re still on the fence, I recommend testing out their VA mini-course instead.

VA Foundry Competitors

VA Foundry Launch in 30 days is a top-rated course that will help you launch your virtual assistant business, but it’s not the only course in town.

I created a detailed list of all the best virtual assistant courses to help you compare.

But here’s a quick summary of other popular options:

👉 Savvy System. Most comprehensive and most expensive, neutral vibes. This course is more expensive than VA Foundry, but if you have the budget it is the gold standard and is constantly updating. (Read full Savvy System review).

👉 Fully Booked VA. Mid-range budget, includes specialization trainings. Unlike 90 Day VA, this course focuses more on niching down your VA business. If you don’t want to be a generalist, this course might be a better option than VA Foundry. (Read full Fully Booked VA review).

👉 Virtual Excellence Academy. Mid-range budget, diversity/inclusive vibesVirtual Excellence Academy differentiates itself from its competitors, including VA Foundry, by focusing on inclusion and making every type of person feel welcome as a virtual assistant, even if you don’t fit the normal mold. (Read full Virtual Excellence Academy review)

Before diving into any one course, you may want to take the “free intro courses” tied to each program. You can find these free courses using the links above.

That way, you can get a feel for the different teaching styles and overall energy of each program (because they are VERY different).

All of these courses are fantastic in helping you start and scale your VA business. They all provide great video tutorials (some are more comprehensive than others – looking at you Savvy System) but ultimately you’ll get a head start in your career no matter which you choose.

What sets the Launch in 30 Days program apart, however, is: 1) they are based in New Zealand, so for any Kiwis out there that can’t make the weird time difference work, this is an excellent option for you.

And 2) they have a sister program called Scale it! Mastermind that teaches existing VAs how to really scale and expand their businesses and income sustainably (see full Scale it! Mastermind review).

I’ve gone through every single one of these courses, and they are all top-notch. So I recommend choosing whichever one best fits your budget and vibe.
